The homeland of the Akhalteke horse is Turkmenistan. It got its name from its place of origin, the oasis of Akhal, where it was bred in purity by the Teke tribe.
Traditional Turkmen jewelry glisten on the slender neck of the young and pedigree mare Enysh. In ancient times they helped to repel saber attacks, now they emphasize the horse's stature and breed identity. Also on the Akhalteke's necks wear an aladja, a rope woven from camel's hair or made of semi-precious stones. It serves as a protection
from the evil eye. Yenysh proudly wears the traditional attire.
